Hate Hits Hard
“I’ve learned more from pain than I could’ve ever learned from pleasure.” -Sonya Teclai. Hate affects everyone around the world both negatively and positively. While hate brings destruction, murder, and grief it also gives people a new way of seeing things. In addition, it brings people together to stop awful things from happening again. Although love has a big impact on society, hate has a greater impact on the world because of deadly shootings, brutal wars, and terrorist attacks around the globe.

Shootings have a big impact on society because it leaves a lasting trauma. For instance, a study shows that shootings have a huge effect on a survivor's mental health. For example, Sardar Faisal, a New Zealand shooting survivor says what he saw and heard that day haunts him. In addition, he struggles to focus at work and suffers nightmares. Furthermore, shootings spread awareness and help people be more prepared for one. For instance, billions of dollars are being spent to install armored doors, bulletproof whiteboards, and secret snipers inside schools. Lastly, middle and high school students across the country shared their thoughts on gun violence with the NewsHour after the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Wars have a massive effect on the world because many people died during them. For example, during World War II Hitler and his Nazi's murdered six million European Jews. In addition, Hitler and his Nazis experimented with poison gas during the Aktion T4 for mass murder programme against the disabled and mentally ill. By the end of World War II, an estimated 70-85 million people dies because of Hitler’s hatred towards others. Also, wars impact people around the world because wars leave many people as refugees or stateless. For instance, there are an estimated 6,130,000-6,320,000 Syrian refugees from the Syrian civil war. Even more, it is estimated that there are 10,000,000 stateless people in the world.

Terrorist attacks change the world because they install fear in the everyday lives of people. For instance, after 9/11 airport security changed drastically to prevent another attack. Security changed in many ways such as ID must be presented, travelers must remove shoes at checkpoints, all baggage must be screened, travelers must remove toiletries, laptops from bags, outerwear during screenings, etc. Furthermore, terrorist attacks kill many people. For example, 9/11 killed 2,996 people and injured over 6,000.

Although love has a great impact on society, hate has a more massive effect on the world because of awful wars, terrorist attacks, and terrifying shootings. Shootings have lasting trauma on those who survived or witnessed the event. However, they spread awareness about the awful issue. Wars bring death and make refugees which leaves a lasting effect on the world. Lastly, terrorist attacks bring fear to a person's everyday life. While love impacts society, hate has a massive effect both negatively and positively to a person. Hate brings huge amounts of change for the better and worse.
